Share My Steam Profile

By Jocelyn on August 23, 2010

Despite having written a whole post on why I should play more video games, I still haven’t actually played as much as I would like to.  I’m averaging maybe 30 minutes or less a week, if I even remember to play.  I’ve been mulling over why this might be, and I think I’ve discovered why.

I love playing video games with my friends.  This was the entire draw to my addiction with World of Warcraft.  I started that game because I wanted to hang out with my friends in game, and I reluctantly stopped playing for my career, but certainly not because I didn’t want to hang out with my friends.  Now that I’m trying to get back into gaming (this time without crazy addictive tendencies), I’m finding that I don’t have that many gamer friends online when I want to play a game.  All my former gamer buddies have day job schedules, and since I don’t adhere to that schedule, it’s hard to find a time to play with them.  Though the more likely case is that they just don’t play much anymore.

I know I would definitely get myself to actually play more video games if someone else were waiting for me to play with them, so I’m trying something new.  You might have noticed a new sidebar widget to the right with my Steam profile.  What’s Steam?  It’s a really cool social gaming platform which allows you to easily see what your friends are playing and join them in their games easily.  It also allows you to easily purchase games from any computer, and let’s you bring your games to any computer you can log on to Steam with.

An Awesome Online Gaming Platform

If you have a Steam account, I welcome you to friend me or send me a message.  If you don’t have a Steam account, I highly recommend you sign up for one if you’re interested in gaming.  You can check out the details for Steam here: http://store.steampowered.com/about/.  And if you’re feeling stalker-ish, you can even see how many hours I’ve played recently and which games I play the most.  Sadly, I’ve played no hours in the past two weeks, but I’m hoping to change that soon!

And if anyone is wondering why my Steam profile is NinjaBabe, it’s because I once played her in Real Ultimate Power: The Official Ninja Movie.

Yup, that's me kicking ass as Ninja Babe.

Will you join me on Steam?  Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get myself to play more video games?  Is it odd that I am trying to play more video games?
